Hi Hanna,

I'm quite excited! I often film 2-3 minute videos on my phone for YouTube but I've been intending on filming a much longer and more professional video for some time. Then in the October holiday week I finally found time and I'm so pleased with it. It's a 20 minute video with all my 'quick fix' sensory activity ideas plus a downloadable guide.

My 'quick fix' sensory activities are simple strategies that you can do in the moment to help you feel better when you are anxious, angry, upset or overwhelmed, and for most of them no equipment is required. They are suitable for adults and children and for home and school.

I'm a big advocate for feeling feelings and allowing it all to come up...however, when I'm in a supermarket for example, and it's all getting a bit overwhelming (the busyness, the choices, the lights, the noise) or I'm nervous about a big meeting or I'm in a traffic jam and worrying about being late, I want something to help me feel a little bit better in the short term so I can cope with the task at hand.

I have parents tell me that they need ideas for when their child is getting annoyed by their sibling in the back of the car or when their child is getting anxious about going to a new place and they feel overwhelmed about getting out the car despite wanting to. Teachers tell me that it would be great to have little strategies to do in class when there isn't a TA to take a child for a movement break or when there is only 2 minutes until break time and the child just needs something to keep them going for a couple of minutes.

These 'quick fix' strategies are not a replacement for feeling your feelings. They are not a replacement for a nice big movement break or some quiet rest time. They should not be used to coerce a child into doing something they are anxious about and don't want to do. They are however, really handy strategies to have in your toolkit to help your body or your child's body feel that little bit better so you can do the activity you want to do.

I am charging £12 for lifetime access to the video and downloadable guide and I've been told by clients who have already accessed it, that's it well worth it. If you know someone who might benefit then please do share.

Please click here for more info and to access it.

My next couple of newsletters will share some sensory Christmas gift ideas. I feel a bit wrong doing so as one my kids won't have any mention of Christmas until December but some people like to be super organised so I'm getting on it!
