MOVE REGULATE LEARN

Practical strategies to support regulation and participation in schools.

Move Regulate Learn is practical, interactive training for all school staff, designed to build confidence in understanding regulation, sensory needs and what may be getting in the way of a child’s participation.

The training combines some key theory with lots of practical ideas that can be used in everyday school life. It is not about making children look calm or comply. The focus is on understanding what a child may need, making helpful changes where possible and finding strategies that genuinely support participation.

The training explores:

  • Sensory preferences and individual differences
  • Fluctuating arousal, regulation and capacity
  • The importance of co-regulation and adult response
  • Noticing what may be getting in the way of participation
  • Adapting the task, environment and expectations
  • Universal approaches that can support the whole classroom
  • Practical movement and sensory strategies
  • In-class and out-of-class regulation options
  • Involving the child and respecting individual preferences
  • How to observe, review and adapt support
  • The NOTICE → WONDER → CHANGE → TRY → REVIEW framework

Staff will also have the opportunity to see and try a range of practical sensory and movement equipment and consider how different strategies may help different children.

There is opportunity to ask questions and discuss any challenges you are facing.
