Who is the trainer programme for?

The licensed trainer programme is for people who have lived experience of neurodivergence, experience of supporting children (professionally or as a parent/carer), and experience of teaching or delivering training to groups.

You do not need to come from a particular professional background. What matters is that you bring relevant experience, feel confident working with groups, and are aligned with the Move Regulate Learn approach. This might include:

• Teachers and SENCOs
• Occupational therapists and other allied health professionals
• SEND, inclusion and education practitioners
• Education consultants and experienced trainers
• Parents and carers with relevant teaching, training or facilitation experience

Why learn with me?

I have worked as an occupational therapist for more than 20 years, supporting children, families, schools and professionals in a range of settings. I have also worked in a consultancy role with local authorities, schools and charities.

Move Regulate Learn has grown out of that experience, alongside my own lived experience of neurodivergence. It brings together practical approaches I have seen help in school settings with the values that underpin my work: respecting individual differences, supporting participation and listening to the child’s own experience.

I also have extensive experience of delivering training to schools and professionals. My aim is to make complex ideas understandable and useful, while encouraging people to consider the wider picture and what may be getting in the way before considering sensory equipment.

As a licensed trainer, you will learn not only the content of Move Regulate Learn, but how to bring the training to life for school staff. We’ll also explore the strengths, experience and qualities you bring as a trainer, so you can deliver the programme with confidence and in a way that feels authentically your own.

What will you be teaching?

The Move Regulate Learn school training combines a small amount of key theory with lots of practical application. As part of the licensed trainer programme, you’ll watch a recording of me delivering Move Regulate Learn, so you can see how the content, discussions and practical elements come together.

The Move Regulate Learn school training you’ll be licensed to deliver covers:

• Sensory preferences and individual differences
• Fluctuating arousal and capacity
• Co-regulation and the adult response
• Noticing what may be getting in the way of participation
• Universal classroom approaches
• Practical movement and sensory strategies
• In-class and out-of-class supports
• Child choice and involvement
• Observing whether a strategy is helping or hindering
• The NOTICE → WONDER → CHANGE → TRY → REVIEW framework for guiding decisions

The emphasis throughout is on participation rather than compliance, and on finding what helps the individual child rather than using one-size-fits-all sensory strategies.

Fees

Licensed Trainer Programme

£995

This includes the one-day online trainer training, complete trainer resource package, Licensed Trainer certification, your first 12 months’ licence to deliver Move Regulate Learn as often as you like, plus ongoing trainer support including email support, access to the trainer WhatsApp group and an annual online trainer support session.

Sensory Equipment Kit

Approximately £140

Licensed trainers are required to have access to a small sensory equipment kit so that the practical elements of Move Regulate Learn can be demonstrated during school training. The kit includes items such as a wobble cushion, therapy ball, fidget toys and other simple sensory and movement equipment. You do not need to buy anything you already own. The kit helps keep the training practical and interactive, giving school staff the opportunity to see and try some of the equipment being discussed.

Licence Renewal

£300 per year - first renewal due 12 months after you become licensed

Annual renewal includes:

• Your continued licence to deliver Move Regulate Learn as often as you like
• Access to any updated training materials and resources
• One annual one-hour online trainer meeting with me, including updates to the programme and an opportunity to discuss delivery with other licensed trainers
• Ongoing email support throughout the year for questions relating to Move Regulate Learn
• Access to a Licensed Trainer WhatsApp group for peer support and shared ideas

You set your own fee and retain all the income from the training you deliver. As a guide, I would suggest charging around £450–£500 per school session, depending on delivery arrangements and location, with no additional fee due to me per delivery. At these rates, the gross income from three school bookings would more than cover the initial training fee and the sensory equipment kit.

In-house trainer option

Looking to use Move Regulate Learn within your own organisation?

Schools, academy trusts, charities and other organisations can also train staff to deliver Move Regulate Learn internally within their own organisation.

This can be a cost-effective option for larger organisations that want to build their own capacity and provide consistent regulation training across several teams or settings.

In-house trainers receive the same trainer training, resources and support, but the licence is for internal delivery only and does not allow the trainer or organisation to sell Move Regulate Learn training externally.
